Elizabeth Torres is a 24 year old poet and multi-media artist. Currently Kean University’s Poet in Residence, Elizabeth is a frequent speaker and panelist at cultural conventions and community lecture series in the US and abroad. Director of Red Door Magazine since 2009, and current co-director of the Neverstop project and “Eyelids Burn”, an experimental band, as well as a member of the Poetas en NY collective, among other projects.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia. Author of 16 published works, and currently working on two new poetry selections, in English and Spanish. Her latest book, “Street Light Visions” was published by Honda Nomada in Mexico in February of 2012. Previous to this, “Edad de Sol” was presented in New York and Mexico during the fall of 2011. Her book “Anatomía de la Arcilla Incoherente” was published in 2010. Elizabeth was selected by CNN’s Young People Who Rock in 2007 and by American Eagle Outfitter’s “Live your Life” campaign as a role model.
A member of the Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour, her list of past clients includes Verizon, Daimler Chrysler, Johnson and Johnson, universities and schools in several countries, such as Georgetown, Franklyn and Marshall, La Guardia Community College, and Rutgers. She has given more than 1,000 interviews around the world to newspapers, TV and radio shows.
Upcoming projects include a tour to LatinAmerica in the Spring of 2012, and an artist in residence project in Beijing for 2012. Participation in the Book Fair of Guadalajara, MX in December, and the release of a music CD in Spain at the end of the year. Conferences and poetry readings in Europe are being scheduled for 2013.
